DJI_0021

Update (January 22nd, 2018) - Public Works employees successfully installed one of four new gate arms to the Tarpon Dock Bridge on January 20th. The city plans to install the remaining gate arms in the coming weekends as weather permits.

Public Works employees will begin installing four new gate arms to the Tarpon Dock Bridge, the draw bridge on E. Beach Drive, on January 20th, Saturday at 7:00 a.m. The city is no longer able to find replacement parts for the existing arms.

Any lane closures on the bridge Saturday will be temporary as employees move equipment. Motorists are reminded to pay attention when traveling through the construction area, to watch for construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway, and any workers directing traffic with flags or signs.

Boat traffic under the bridge should not be impacted.

This is the first phase in a project to upgrade the operating equipment on the bridge. Additional electrical and mechanical upgrades are scheduled for as early as this summer.

The bridge was built in 1951.
