[ARCHIVED] Junior Citizens Police Academy Accepting Applications

The Panama City Police Department will be hosting a Junior Citizens Police Academy beginning July 16th through July 20th. This program is intended for young men and women ages 12 to 17 who have an interest in the law enforcement career field. During the academy, participants will have the opportunity to view the inner workings of the police department, interact with law enforcement officers and be presented with a realistic experience of how law enforcement officers train and perform their daily duties.
 
The academy will be held at the Panama City Police Department, located at 1209 E. 15th Street. The academy will begin at 8:00 a.m. and conclude at 4:00 p.m. daily. The academy will be a curriculum based academy with participants receiving both classroom instruction and the opportunity to apply the instruction in a practical setting. All instruction will be provided by officers with the Panama City Police Department.
 
During the academy participants will be provided instructions and demonstrations in the following areas:
 
Patrol Operations

Legal Instruction

DUI Enforcement

Traffic Enforcement

Arrest Procedures

K-9

SWAT

Crime Scene

Criminal Investigations
 
The academy will be accepting a limited number of participants. Applications will be processed on a first come first serve basis. There is no cost to the participant.
