Come share your ideas!

Community involvement is the key to the success for the City of Panama City's Long Term Recovery Planning project. Please join the City for a design charrette from June 11th through June 22nd. All are welcome to give input to help make Panama City bigger, better and stronger. For a complete list of events, please visit www.RebuildPC.org.

The City has contracted with Hagerty Consulting and its partners, HR&A Advisors, Dover-Kohl & Partners and Kglobal, to create a Long Term Recovery Plan for storm recovery, redevelopment, renewal of public spaces and a path to economic innovation.

Panama City Values What You Value

Your participation in the project is vital to understanding your community’s priorities for recovery, current needs, and expectations for the future of the City of Panama City. This long term planning process will include town halls, focus group meetings, and a week-long charrette process. The Long Term Recovery Planning project will support Panama City’s values and vision by focusing on recovery and resiliency in four areas: Safety & Security, Economy, Quality of Life, and Infrastructure.

What Is A Charrette and How Does It Work?

A Charrette is a rapid, intensive, and creative work session in which a planning team focuses on a particular problem and arrives at a collaborative solution. Charrettes are formatted to encourage the exchange of dialogue, allowing community members, stakeholders, and designers to brainstorm on new ideas and evaluate multiple options. The City of Panama City Charrette will invite all citizens to the table over a week to work intensively with the recovery and downtown planning team to reach consensus over the future of the City.

What Will Happen During The Charrette?

Town Hall meetings will lead into the Charrette Week, with each meeting focusing on a different recovery or redevelopment topic, to set the stage for the Charrette. Focus groups will meet throughout two weeks to validate projects for the Long Term Recovery planning efforts. A Walk/Bus Tour, Hands-on Design Session, and Closing Presentations during the Charrette will gather the community’s ideas and vision for recovery downtown.

Plan To Attend At Least One Event

The Town Halls and Focus Groups are key opportunities to share your ideas and thoughts on recovery priorities that should be considered in the City’s Long Term Recovery Plan. If you have ideas about the redevelopment and future of the City’s downtown area, plan to attend town halls, focus group meetings, the HandsOn Design Session or drop by the On-site Studio. You can also help validate the ideas collected throughout the Charrette Week by attending the Closing Presentations.

Other Ways You Can Participate

Periodic updates about the City’s Long Term Recovery Planning project will be posted at RebuildPC.org. A public survey on the website offers another opportunity for community members to provide your thoughts and ideas of recovery priorities for you and your community. The responses will be considered in all recovery and redevelopment activities.
