Effective June 1, the speed limit on Jenks Ave. between S.R. 390 and W. 15th St. (U.S. 98) will permanently change to 40 mph to provide continuity for drivers on this stretch of roadway.
The change represents a five mph increase on Jenks Ave. between S.R. 390 to W. 23rd St. and a five mph decrease between W. 23rd St. to W. 15th St.
The decision was made jointly by Bay County and the City of Panama City. Jenks Ave. between S.R. 390 and Baldwin Rd. is maintained by the county.
Signs displaying the new 40 mph speed limit will be installed June 1 along the approximately 3.5-mile stretch of roadway. Digital message boards have also been placed along Jenks Ave. alerting drivers to the upcoming traffic change.
The speed limit on Jenks Ave. south of 15th St. will remain 30 mph.
