The City of Panama City's Quality of Life Department is seeking public input on the future development of Chapman Park, located on Rollins Avenue.
The City conducted a survey in May of 2023 to gather feedback from the public on desired amenities at Chapman Park. The below concept map includes basketball and pickleball courts, a walking path, renovated clubhouse and existing playground. The City will have to secure funding through grants, fundraising, and/or budgeting for this proposed project, which could take up to five years.
Following the conclusion of the initial survey, the City received an unsolicited proposal from The Dugout, a youth baseball and softball training organization, to construct two lighted baseball fields and an indoor training facility. The proposal also includes construction of a walking path, pickleball courts, renovated clubhouse, and potentially other amenities, which would remain open to the public. The existing playground remains in The Dugout's preliminary concept.
The City is currently seeking input through an online survey from the public regarding both concepts until August 11, 2023. The City Commission will consider The Dugout's proposal at a future Commission Meeting.
