Education
Panama City is home to numerous public, charter, virtual, and private schools for all ages. These schools are situated within the Bay County school district, which supports School Choice and is recognized as a Purple Star School District for its unique support of military families. Beyond K-12 education, Panama City houses multiple post-secondary education institutions, including Gulf Coast State College, Florida State University, Panama City and Tom P Haney Technical College.
In addition to schooling, very low-income youths and their families who are at risk of educational failure or need an after-school safe haven can utilize the After School Assistance Program (ASAP). The program operates year-round and offers educational enrichment for students, along with parental seminars and support groups.
Gulf Coast State College
Programs at Gulf Coast include 2-year university transfer and career-oriented fields of study leading to 57 Associate in Arts and 30 Associate in Science Degrees. The school also offers 1-year certificates in various areas of study, as well as a broad variety of non-credit offerings through its Office of Continuing Education.
Florida State University - Panama City Campus
The Panama City Campus of Florida State University currently provides undergraduate degree programs to Panama City / Bay County area residents in 19 fields. Master degree offerings cover 11 different fields ranging from business, education, engineering, and nursing to psychology. Future degree programs will be added.
Troy University
The Troy University, Florida Region at Tyndall Air Force Base, currently provides undergraduate degree programs to Panama City / Bay County area residents in psychology and business administration / management. Master degree offerings cover 5 different fields: human development, human resource management, international relations, management and public administration.
